For years conservatives have been warning against the return of the Fairness Doctrine and for years those same conservatives have been called paranoid. Now, the liberals make no pretense of hiding their true intent to bring back the Fairness Doctrine cleverly disguised as something less "hot-button"ish, no doubt.
This time they want to include the internet. That means bloggers. So, whenever I post a story, I will have to give equal coverage of the opposing side. Forget about expecting the readers to do their own research, let us just spoon feed them so they don't have to do anything, except sit there. That sounds alot like the current administrations policies on just about everything else, doesn't it?
"Commissioner Michael Copps held meetings last week with policy and legislative advisers to House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman to discuss ways the committee can create openings for the FCC to put in place a form of the "Fairness Doctrine" without actually calling it such.
Waxman is also interested, say sources, in looking at how the Internet is being used for content and free speech purposes. "It's all about diversity in media," says a House Energy staffer, familiar with the meetings. "Does one radio station or one station group control four of the five most powerful outlets in one community? Do four stations in one region carry Rush Limbaugh, and nothing else during the same time slot? Does one heavily trafficked Internet site present one side of an issue and not link to sites that present alternative views? These are some of the questions the chairman is thinking about right now, and we are going to have an FCC that will finally have the people in place to answer them."
The last time I checked, radio stations are not publicly owned. Don't private owners still have a right to broadcast anything they think will make money? The abject failure of liberal talk radio is a perfect example of why we do not need any doctrine mandating "fairness" That is the beauty of a free market system. People will listen to what they want to hear and quickly reject that which they do not wish to hear.
I don't listen to liberal talk radio because I do not like liberal talk radio. I think the question for Waxman needs to be "fair for who"? Is it "fair" to handcuff sucessful radio formats with a proven recipe for failure i.e. liberal talking points? Is it "fair" to force millions of private citizens to present both sides of an issue, when for every conservative blogger there is a liberal blogger.
Trust me, it isn't hard to find liberal talking points, just pick up almost any newspaper and see for yourself.
"But Copps has been a supporter of putting in place policies that would allow the federal government to have greater oversight over the content that TV and radio stations broadcast to the public, and both the FCC and Waxman are looking to licensing and renewal of licensing as a means of enforcing "Fairness Doctrine" type policies without actually using the hot-button term "Fairness Doctrine."

Uncle Sam's Plantation
When I was much younger, I used to read those historical romance novels. I loved them. I had an interest in history and of course I thought the descriptions of the gowns and the women who wore them was amazing. I remember the story line from one novel of a young English woman who was sold into indentured servitude to pay off her father's debt. My heroine wound up in the Carolinas on a fledgling tobacco plantation and by the end of the story, she had fallen in love with the handsome but troubled plantation owner and managed to marry him and bought herself her freedom in the process.
That was my first exposure to the concept of indentured servants. Seemingly ordinary people who had to place themselves at the mercy of a debt holder for a period of time, because either they or someone else in their family owed more money than they could repay. I feel that mentality creeping up on this nation's people. Do you feel it? As a nation, we owe much more money than we are going to be able to repay in our life times and our elected officials are working overtime to add 1 or 2 or maybe even 3 TRILLION dollars to that debt.
So will our children be sold into indentured servitude to pay for the socialization of our nation? There won't be any handsome plantation owner to come and save them from the fate we are assigning to them. We have raised a nation of Americans who believe the only way they can live their lives is through the beneficence of the government. Now we reap what we sow. Even though I didn't sow those particular seeds, the seeds of apathy, ignorance,laziness,amorality, dependency I have to pay for the consequences. My sons will pay the consequences and so will my grandchildren. That fills me with such sadness.
Star Parker writes "A benevolent Uncle Sam welcomed mostly poor black Americans onto the government plantation. Those who accepted the invitation switched mindsets from "How do I take care of myself?" to "What do I have to do to stay on the plantation?" in her article this week. That statement came to mind this week when I saw Ms Hughes begging the president for a new house or a new kitchen. I saw it again in that young man, Julio who wanted the president to hand him better healthcare. I saw it all throughout the elections, a woman claiming that BO was going to fill up her gas tank, and all sorts of miraculous feats.
"Instead of solving economic problems, government welfare socialism created monstrous moral and spiritual problems. The kind of problems that are inevitable when individuals turn responsibility for their lives over to others.
The legacy of American socialism is our blighted inner cities, dysfunctional inner city schools, and broken black families. "
I know Star Parker was speaking as a black woman about other blacks, but I see this not in a black or white context, but a context of those who were raised to believe the government is the font of all that is free and those of us who know the government is going to take from us to give to them, just to maintain the plantation. That really bothers me.

Do the fires in Australia have a jihadi connection?
We finally got some rain here in Oklahoma. YAY for rain! I'm as happy as a puppy dog with two tails today. And then I read the news,as you might imagine I feel a certain empathy towards the people in Australia who are being affected by the wildfires. I read this story earlier this morning
WHITTLESEA, Australia – Police declared incinerated towns crime scenes Monday, and the prime minister spoke of "mass murder" after investigators said arsonists may have set some of Australia's worst wildfires in history. The death toll rose to 166.

As if that weren't horrifying enough, I have this article for you to consider, although I find it very interesting that it isn't showing up on any of the MSM outlets. Maybe if we have enough people to start asking questions about this article, it will get some air time...or maybe not...
"US intelligence channels earlier this year identified a website calling on Muslims in Australia, the US, Europe and Russia to "start forest fires", claiming "scholars have justified chopping down and burning the infidels' forests when they do the same to our lands".
The website, posted by a group called the Al-Ikhlas Islamic Network, argues in Arabic that lighting fires is an effective form of terrorism justified in Islamic law under the "eye for an eye" doctrine. The posting — which instructs jihadis to remember "forest jihad" in summer months — says fires cause economic damage and pollution, tie up security agencies and can take months to extinguish so that "this terror will haunt them for an extended period of time"."
Imagine if, after all the losses caused by such an event, a jihadist organisation were to claim responsibility for the forest fires," the website says. "You can hardly begin to imagine the level of fear that would take hold of people in the United States, in Europe, in Russia and in Australia."

Now, here is a fair warning to any crazy arson inspired jihadis out there. Better think twice. Out in this neck of the woods, first of all, you are gonna stick out like a sore thumb. People out here will notice you. They aren't all into the "multiculturalism touchy feely stuff" that you all have used to exploit a fundamental weakness of democratic societies. Second, if you decide to ignore the first warning, you better pray the authorities catch you first.
Trust me, waterboarding will sound like a vacation and you will be begging for Gitmo if you are caught out here setting wildfires. I thought it only fair to give you a warning, since you all have been warning America and the world for years now of your intent. You see, out here, people don't care if the UN thinks they are mean or whatever...they will do what they need to do to protect their families and businesses. I'm not making threats by any means, I'm just trying to be fair. :)

So Speaks our dear leader

“Wars have been waged. Innocents have been slaughtered. For centuries, entire religions have been persecuted, all in the name of perceived righteousness." Really dear leader, which religion might that be? Could you mean the JEWISH people? Could you mean CATHOLICS? You do? Guess which "religion" is persecuting them TODAY? Try MUSLIM.
“There is no doubt that the very nature of faith means that some of our beliefs will never be the same. We read from different texts. We follow different edicts. We subscribe to different accounts of how we came to be here and where we are going next—and some subscribe to no faith at all." Perhaps for now, dear leader. Tonight I'm just a mom
So, our dear leader did it. He set the filthy coward free who planned ,plotted and finally executed a terrorist strike on the USS Cole. 17 of our nation's sailors were murdered.
Tonight I'm thinking about the moms. Did the mothers of those young sailors have a chance to tell them good bye, sleep tight, I love you? Moms always tell their babies, be safe, be careful...keep your eyes open. My father served in the Navy during WWII and again in Korea. My son joined the Navy in 2001, my nephew still serves in the Navy. So I feel as though any of those names could have been one of my cherished family. When a I kissed my son goodbye at the recruiting station, it was one of the most wrenching experiences imaginable. I wanted to hold on to him and tell him he couldn't go. I knew it would be dangerous. I understand the nature of the military very well.
But, back then, I was naive. I had a belief that if my son were ever captured or killed, my country would do all in her power to ensure that he would be brought home safely and if the worst happened, then his killers would be caught and punished. I wonder if these moms believed that too. We were all so stupidly naive back then...before Sept 11. This attack was almost a year before Sept 11, 2001...and we were still naive.
I can't even begin to imagine the feelings of the moms of these sailors tonight. What does it feel like when your own president betrays the courage and honor of your child? What does it feel like when the scab is ripped away from the bleeding remains of your grief and great handfuls of disdain and condescension are rubbed into the wound? I feel the hard knot of grief in my own chest and an aching fire starting to build in my soul at the continued disdain with which this president is crunching everything that is right about our country beneath his heel. This is only the first month. We have a very long way to go...and I know there will be many more grieving mothers before we are through.
Btw...any crazy jihadis out there. I have many sons. All of my sons are quite capable of killing you. All of my sons are quite efficient with many different types of firearms. And all of my sons know the truth of islam and what YOU are planning. I know, because I taught them.
