So What Happens if the Ground Zero Mosque Moves a Few Blocks?

So What Happens if the Ground Zero Mosque Moves a Few Blocks?

Stella Paul in American Thinker.
Pity the poor New York politician. Take Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who was merrily reigning over New York, banning bake sales in public schools because he doesn't trust parents to monitor their children's cupcake ingestion. Now, all of a sudden, just because he trusts a sharia-spouting imam with mysterious Mideast millions to preach peace and love at Ground Zero, the whole country is mad at him. Why, he can practically feel his plan to sweep to the presidency on a "Make Mosques, Not Cupcakes" platform crumbling before his eyes.

And spare a tear for forlorn Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer. A bland hedgehog of a man, he glowed with confidence that all he had to do was call his fellow New Yorkers "outright haters and bigots" for opposing a Ground Zero Victory Mosque and they would clasp him to their hearts and crown him mayor. Now he's stuttering that he didn't know...didn't think...while waking up in a cold sweat at 3 A.M., realizing that every red-blooded American with a dollar will send it to whoever runs against him

As the Victory Mosque for the Nineteen Martyrs debacle explodes across the headlines, New York's courageous politicians are running for cover, crying for mommy. Even ardent endorsements by Hamas and President Obama haven't helped.

Because it is an immutable law of nature that no New York politician will ever stand for any principle higher than his survival, the Great Do-Over must now be underway. How can these worthies save their darling little hides? What can they do to get that dang thing out of the headlines and lull everybody back to sleep once more? And what will happen when they do?

Well, dear reader, fortunately for you, Stella knows all. Join me now as we peer into Stella Paul's Crazy Crystal Ball.

Prophecy 1: Very soon, Imam Rauf will take time from his busy schedule of fundraising in the Middle East on the U.S. taxpayers' dime and meeting with genocidal Iranians to make the following announcement:

"My fellow Americans, all I want for our mosque is to bring peace and understanding. Unfortunately, un-American bigots are now twisting the beauty of Islam to attack us, and their intolerance is placing every Muslim in danger. My own family has received death threats, and my face, which seeks only to turn with love to Allah and the Statue of Liberty, has been showered with spit from New Yorkers more hate-filled than Nazis.

"Therefore, because of the great danger to peace-loving Muslims and my Daisy, I am agreeing to move the mosque a few blocks away. This whole tragedy for Muslim-Americans began when Mayor Bloomberg and many Jewish leaders told us that New Yorkers would welcome a mosque at Ground Zero with open arms. Because we Muslims are trusting and have only friendship in our hearts, we fell into their Zionist trap." [Editor's note: a day after publication, the Ground Zero Mosque fiasco is being blamed on Zionists by Muslim spokesmen. 8/19/10 8:17 AM PDT]

Prophecy 2: Delirious with gratitude to Imam Rauf for agreeing to move the mosque, Mayor Bloomberg announces the city will donate a magnificent site. After a brief hubbub about separation of church and state, a red-faced Bloomberg withdraws his proposal but offers to buy the site with his own money. When Imam Rauf sulks about the city's betrayal, Mayor Bloomberg frantically agrees to pay for the entire mosque: $100 million for the biggest, best, most beautiful mega-mosque in North America! It's all on him!

(As you may remember, Mayor Thomas Menino of Boston giggled through constitutional barriers when he donated $2 million of public land to the Islamic Society of Boston for their Saudi-funded mega-mosque. But Roxbury is not quite as visible as Ground Zero.)

Prophecy 3: At the Victory Mosque's grand opening on 9/11/11, Bloomberg, Obama, all Democratic members of Congress, the cabinet, and half the Supreme Court all reverently file in and bow down in a pageant of multicultural splendor. Outside, a group of picketers from St. Nicholas Church protests the fact that their church was destroyed on 9/11 and bureaucratic barricades still keep them from rebuilding ten years in. The picketers are tear-gassed and clubbed away from the site, and the next morning, The New York Times blasts them for their insensitivity to the peace-loving Muslim community.

Prophecy 4: Like the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, the new Victory Mosque quickly spins out headlines about violent plots and jihad-drenched rhetoric emanating from its associates. Meanwhile, the long-promised civil trial of Khalid Sheik Mohammed begins in downtown Manhattan, a few blocks away. Thousands of Muslims converge on lower Manhattan, praying five times a day at the Victory Mosque, then surging to the courthouse to scream threats about justice for Khalid. The streets of downtown New York are a madhouse.

Prophecy 5: Over time, as more Muslims decide to live next to the Victory Mosque, Lower Manhattan becomes a no-go zone, like certain areas in France and Sweden. Wall Street firms are the first to flee to Connecticut, New Jersey, and finally, Switzerland, taking with them thousands of New York's most productive citizens. The already damaged fiscal base of New York City collapses. As the years go by, demographic pressures create a civic death spiral, just like in Antwerp or Rotterdam. Finally, the city's new mayor, Hussein bin Mohamed, comes up with a perfect solution: the mother of all bailouts. It seems Saudi Arabia has generously agreed to save New York. All they ask is the women agree to a slight adjustment in their style of dress.

Now who's going to tell me I'm wrong?

Never Forget

Memorial Day 2010

By Oliver North (Archive) · Friday, May 28, 2010

ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY, Va. -- This is the place that receives the most attention on Memorial Day, though it is but one of 141 national cemeteries in the United States and 24 others located on foreign soil. Many of our countrymen will observe this "last Monday in May" holiday with travel, shopping and picnics. But those who take the time to visit one of these hallowed grounds will have an unforgettable experience.

These are the final resting places for more than 3 million Americans who served in our armed forces -- as soldiers, sailors, airmen, Guardsmen and Marines -- including the nearly 5,500 who have perished in Afghanistan and Iraq.

A visit to one of these quiet memorials is a tribute to those who made history by wearing our nation's uniform and taking up arms to preserve our liberty and free tens of millions of others from tyranny. In words written on stone markers, these places tell the story of who we are as a people.

Regardless of when they served, all interred in these cemeteries sacrificed the comforts of home and absented themselves from the warmth and affection of loved ones. Since 1776, more than 1.5 million Americans have lost their lives while in uniform.

At countless funerals and memorial services for those who lost their lives in the service of our country, I hear the question, "Why is such a good young person taken from us in the prime of life?" Plato, the Greek philosopher, apparently sought to resolve the issue by observing, "Only the dead have seen the end of war." I prefer to take my solace in the words of Jesus to the Apostle John: "Father, I will that those you have given me, be with me where I am."

My sojourns to this "Sacred Ground," as Tom Ruck calls our national cemeteries in the title of his magnificent book, remind me that among those here are veterans who served with my father and all of my uncles in the conflagration of World War II. Only a handful of those 16.5 million from that "greatest generation" remain. Others resting in these consecrated places were tested just five years later in our first fight against despotic communism -- on the Korean Peninsula. They braved stifling heat, mind-numbing cold and an enemy that often outnumbered them 10 to one.

Here are headstones of those who served in the decade between Korea and Vietnam. More than 12 millions young Americans donned military uniforms in what was called "the cold war." It was only cold for those who didn't have to fight in it. They served on land, air and sea in lonely outposts, dusty camps, along barbed wire barriers in foreign lands, on guard against those who would have done us harm if they had the chance.

Between 1964 and 1975, more than 7 million young Americans were committed to the bloody contest in Southeast Asia. The names of 58,267 who died from that fight are on the wall of the Vietnam War Memorial -- some of them were my Marines and my brother's soldiers. Headstones in cemeteries all across this land testify to more of their selfless sacrifice -- and serve as a reminder that the victory denied in that war should never happen again.

In the three-and-a-half decades since Vietnam, not a single year has passed without Americans in uniform being committed to hostile action somewhere around the globe -- including Grenada, Beirut, Panama, the Balkans and Kuwait. We are not a warlike people. But for more than two centuries, ours has been the only nation on earth willing to consistently send its sons and daughters into harm's way -- not for gold or oil or colonial conquest, but to offer others the hope of liberty.

Since Sept. 11, that great legacy has been borne by volunteers serving in the shadows of the Hindu Kush, along the banks of the Tigris and Euphrates, in the Persian Gulf and on anti-piracy patrols in the Indian Ocean. These young Americans are engaged against a merciless enemy who has proven repeatedly that there is no atrocity beneath them -- and that they will do whatever it takes to kill as many of our countrymen as possible.

Those now in uniform deserve our thanks, for no nation has ever had a better military force than the one we have today. And no accolade to those presently in our country's service is greater than honoring the veterans who preceded them on Memorial Day.

American Legion Responds to DHS Napolitano

AMERICAN LEGION: An Open Letter to Homeland Security on ‘Rightwing Extremists’
Editor’s note: David K. Rehbein, an Army veteran and national commander of The American Legion, sent the following letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano in response to the recent Homeland Security report warning about “Rightwing Extremism.”

Secretary Janet NapolitanoDepartment of Homeland SecurityU.S. Department of Homeland SecurityWashington, DC 20528
April 13, 2009

Dear Secretary Napolitano,

On behalf of the 2.6 million-member American Legion, I am stating my concern about your April 7 report, “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence and Recruitment.”First, I want to assure you that The American Legion has long shared your concern about white supremacist and anti-government groups. In 1923, when the Ku Klux Klan still yielded unspeakable influence in this country, The American Legion passed Resolution 407. It resolved, in part, “…we consider any individual, group of individuals or organizations, which creates, or fosters racial, religious or class strife among our people, or which takes into their own hands the enforcement of law, determination of guilt, or infliction of punishment, to be un-American, a menace to our liberties, and destructive to our fundamental law…”The best that I can say about your recent report is that it is incomplete.

The report states, without any statistical evidence, “The possible passage of new restrictions on firearms and the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks.”

The American Legion is well aware and horrified at the pain inflicted during the Oklahoma City bombing, but Timothy McVeigh was only one of more than 42 million veterans who have worn this nation’s uniform during wartime. To continue to use McVeigh as an example of the stereotypical “disgruntled military veteran” is as unfair as using Osama bin Laden as the sole example of Islam.

Your report states that “Rightwing extremists were concerned during the 1990s with the perception that illegal immigrants were taking away American jobs through their willingness to work at significantly lower wages.” Secretary Napolitano, this is more than a perception to those who have lost their job. Would you categorize union members as “Right Wing extremists”?
In spite of this incomplete, and, I fear, politically-biased report, The American Legion and the Department of Homeland Security share many common and crucial interests, such as the Citizen Corps and disaster preparedness. Since you are a graduate of New Mexico Girls State, I trust that you are very familiar with The American Legion. I would be happy to meet with you at a time of mutual convenience to discuss issues such as border security and the war on terrorism. I think it is important for all of us to remember that Americans are not the enemy. The terrorists are.

Sincerely,
David K. RehbeinNational CommanderThe American Legion

Last Week in Obamanation

I feel like I am living a very bizarre episode of "The Twilight Zone" with a script that goes something like this:

Inspite millions of the protests of millions of Americans, Congress indulged in a porkgasm that our grandchildren will have to pay for, volumes have already been written on the size, so I won't go there.

Then somewhere in the last few weeks or so, Congress gave themselves a 4% pay raise, no kidding. Then come the TARP bailouts and millions of dollars are sent overseas to "honor the contracts" with the foreign banks. Then it was AIG's turn at the trough.

Somewhere in there, roughly $200 million was promised in bonuses(from a contract that was created back in May 08). The public got wind of the bonuses and what began as a dull rumble became a full throated roar of outrage, with Barry as our Cheerleader in Chief of Outrage. Then we find out that his boy Timmy the TaxCheat had alot more to do with writing in those bonuses than even the Cheeleader in Chief knew(or so the MSM reports). Enter Barney Frankinosense who raved that it was outrageous that out of all those millions of dollars going to overseas banks and porcine projects back home that those executives would "dare" to collect those bonuses--I'm guessing it was less than 1%(of the bailout funds) give or take a few million, but whats a few million, right?

Why the hubris of those knaves! Off with their heads, Barney shouted to the approval of those in Congress who should have known better than to advocate targeting a specific group of private citizens (that pesky Constitution again), then demanded the names of those knaves so they could send Timmy the TaxCheat's little buddies to collect those ill-gotten bonuses.

But, wait, what did you say Doddering Dodd the soon to be Doorman? You said you knew about those bonuses when you voted for the bailout? You didn't? No, wait, you did? Well which is it, man? So, you and your posse knew all along about those bonuses, did you? Well now, that might explain in part why so many Republicans refused to vote for the Porkulus spending bill. The Dems just keep writing the Repubs campaign commercials, very nice of them I must say.

When the Cheerleader in Chief realized he had struck a thinly stretched chord with the "chattering classes" of Upchucky's derision and scorn, he decided to scoot out of town and let the hired help handle the rest of the week, for you see, Cheerleaders in Chief must remain spotless when the stuff starts getting flung against the wall. And fling they did. In voices(and jowls) quivering with affected affront they whipped up the chattering classes with their rhetoric and venom against those employees who refused to return their hard earned bonuses. Then in fiendish delight they passed legislation which would snatch back the bonuses in the form of exorbitant taxation--that's what you get for nay-saying the tyrants, you foolish knaves.

Then in a final disquieting display of avarice and class-envy a community organizing group( AKA Connecticut Working Families Party, not at all surprisingly, a branch of ACORN) organized(it's what they do) a bus tour through the neighborhoods of some of those greedy knaves, in order to gawk and grumble about what the greedy knaves have and the chattering classes do not have.

Nevermind it was a legally binding contract! HUSH, you cannot speak the truth in this episode, truth no longer exists. Truth was crushed beneath the bootheel of the tyranical jowl-wavers and her sister Freedom wept.

All of this brouhaha was merely a smoke screen you know. To keep us from seeing the real story of 1 trillion dollars being printed by our government to pay our government, because China will not buy anymore debt from us, neither will the rest of the world. We are now printing more money than it is worth.

Literally.

And in the dark shadows the jittery jihadis wait and watch.

Obama hates white people.

Yeah, I said it. If I use the same demented logic the Bush haters used during the Katrina disaster, then yes Obama hates white people. Here's how I got there...

Since this week's ice storm, over 607,000 people are without electricity in Kentucky alone. Yet, while hundreds of thousands of Americans shiver in the freezing cold, fighting for life, Obama and Congress dine on wazuu (or something) steak that costs around $100 a serving, sip expensive cocktails and Obama decrees that "he doesn't like the cold" then orders the White House thermostats to be set at temperatures so warm it reminds him of his home in Africa...I mean Hawaii. Temperatures so warm he can work without his suit jacket---yet he tells the rest of us to sacrifice and wear a sweater so we can lower our energy bills and save the planet.

As far as I can tell, Obama hasn't even mentioned the ice storm and the power outages, some three days later. I can remember the demented howls of the media driven left when President Bush didn't immediately leap into his Bushmobile and swoop in to save the poor misguided populace of New Orleans...you know that Chocolate City of Mayor Nagan's dreams.

Now, I havn't googled it, but I'm pretty sure the general population of Kentucky is overwhelmingly white and I am reasonably certain that Kentucky does not rank in the top five of average income earners, so applying the same logic that was so generously applied to President Bush...Obama hates white people.

It is a conspiracy to kill off the whites because everyone knows the long and oppressive history of the whites in Kentucky. Its payback for the years of slavery that Obama some how identifies with, when in fact his father was from Africa, a muslim and possibly somewhere in that family's history on the opposite end of slavery than America's blacks. But, a minor inconvenient point, right?

Do you see how stupid you liberals sounded to the rest of the common sense people in America during the Katrina disaster? Come on media people, fair is fair, you have to cover the ice storm with the same breathless horror as you did the Katrina disaster, otherwise aren't you risking the Republicans using the Fairness doctrine argument against you?

To the people of America who are affected by this ice storm, hang in there and thank you for showing the rest of the country how true Americans handle a crisis, without resorting to raping, murder, looting, and whining. Take care Americans and I'm praying for you.

An American Hero Spec. Stephen Fortunato

I sat at my computer for a long time, trying to think of something worthwhile to say about this young man's death. I have nothing to say that can even come close to his own words, so Iwill let his last blog post speak for itself. Please pass this link along.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
Amen.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The following is a blog entry written on Aug. 30, 2008, by Army Specialist Stephen Fortunato, who was killed Tuesday in Afghanistan when the vehicle he was riding in was blown up by an improvised explosive device. This entry was forwarded to the Globe by his mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Crawford.

If I may …
I'd like to say something....Just to get it out there so it is clear. To all the pampered and protected Americans who feel it is their duty to inform me that I am not fighting for their freedom, and that i am a pawn in Bush's agenda of greed and oil acquisition: Noted, and [expletive deleted] You.

I am not a robot. i am not blind or ignorant to the state of the world or the implications of the "war on terrorism." i know that our leaders have made mistakes in the handling of a very sensitive situation, but do not for one second think that you can make me lose faith in what we, meaning America's sons, daughters, fathers, and mothers in uniform are doing.

I am doing my part in fighting a very real enemy of the United States, i.e. Taliban, Al Qaida, and various other radical sects of Islam that have declared war on our way of life. Unless you believe the events of 9/11 were the result of a government conspiracy, which by the way would make you a MORON, there is no reasonable argument you can make against there being a true and dangerous threat that needs to be dealt with. i don't care if there are corporations leaching off the war effort to make money, and i don't care if you don't think our freedom within America's borders is actually at stake.

i just want to kill those who would harm my family and friends. it is that simple. Even if this is just a war for profit or to assert America's power, so what? Someone has to be on top and I want it to be us. There's nothing wrong with wishing prosperity for your side.

I am a proud American. i believe that my country allows me to live my life more or less however i want to, and believe me, i have seen what the alternative of that looks like. i also believe that our big scary government does way more than it has to to help complete [expletive deleted]-ups get back on their feet, a stark comparison to places where leaders just line their own pockets with gold while allowing the people who gave them their power and privilage to starve. I have chosen my corner.

I back my country, and am proud to defend it against aggressors. Also, if you dare accuse us of being inhumane, or overly aggressive because we have rolled into someone else's country and blown some [expletive deleted] up and shot some people, let me remind you of just how inhumane we COULD be in defending ourselves. Let me remind you that we have a warhead that drops multiple bomblets from the stratosphere which upon impact, would turn all the sand in Iraq to glass, and reduce every living thing there to dust. Do we use it? No. Instead we use the most humane weapon ever devised: the American soldier. We send our bravest (and perhaps admitably craziest) men and women into enemy territory, into harms way, to root out those whom we are after and do our best to leave innocent lives unscathed.

...One last thing...a proposal. i know it has been stated time and time again but i just think it is worthy of reiteration. If you find yourself completely disgusted with the way America is being ran, and how we handle things on the global stage, you can leave. Isn't that amazing? No one will stop you! If you are an anarchist, there are places you can go where there is no government to tell you anything.

That's right...you are left solely to your own devices and you can handle the men who show up at your door with AKs in any way that you see fit. Just don't try good old American debate tactics on them because you will most likely end up bound and blind-folded, to have your head chopped off on the internet so your parents can see it.

However if you insist on staying here and taking advantage of privilages such as free speach and WIC, keep the counter-productive [expletive deleted] to a minimum while the grown ups figure out how to handle this god-awful mess in the middle east.

American dream vs socialism

If anything, this perfectly sums up the whole problem with Obama's plans for this country.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" he asked.

"It's not that I want to punish your success," replied Obama. "I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too. My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody. . . . I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."
